Default smokey turbo????

Ive got a strange problem, when the car is almost at normal temp and i start to boost i get a cloud of smoke a couple of times, then it sort of clears up, after 2 or three further accelerations. It doesnt seem to smoke on idle could this be the turbo.

most cossies will smoke as u put your foot down as it dumps more fuel in as the turbo kicks in. should be a black/dark grey colour. especially if its not fully up to temp as it will be running richer
blue or white smoke means a problem

If cossies do this it is generally because they are knackered at least the turbo is.
Don't listen to they all do this, the reason FI exists is to ensure the correct AFR at all times, if they were so rich as to do this, they have a problem.
If you have been pottering for miles, and I mean miles a quick puff is not out of the question.
If they puff black sot everytiome you accelerate the engine needs attention or it's got a crappy chip etc, could even be the ebay specail resistor mod!!
What colour is the smoke, does it clear, is there oil in the inlet pipe between turbo and i/cooler.

Id like to think that its black or grey, but im pretty sure its blue, i know it does puff a little bit of black smoke when its warm and i boot it, ive also had to top up with oil twice in about 6 wks. Ive checked for play on the shaft and it seems fine ill av a look for oil in the pipes tomorow. It mite be worth you havin a look at some point ian if you want. I know it may still require a set up but dont wanna risk filling some ones workshop with smoke.

check around the back of the sump in fact anywhere around the engine for leaks first.
depending on how you drive this could be considered normal, ford even stuck a sticker on it telling u to check the oil every day
does it puff smoke on the over run or when you are accelerating?

Black sooty depostits are normal, mine is started up against a garage door and it gets black within 2/3 starts, even though fuelling spot on, and idle co set at 2.25, had it on rollers fuelling perfect, but still does it.

It only seems to do it on aceleration, sounds funny but if i only press pedal 1/2 to 3/4 to boost it doesnt seem to do it as bad. Only when on full knacker, do you reckon fitting an in car boost controller mite be better and lower boost with it for every day use, and wind it up on special occasions like playing with the local subrapoo
