Default engine oil?

what engine oil (make/grade) should i put in my saff, the owner before me has been putting in 10/40 gtx magnatec but for some reason i've got a feeling it should be some thing better than magnatec and maybe 10/50?

any help and advice will be very gratefull

3.4 litres with a filter of 5W40 fully synthetic is recommended by ford/haynes etc, but the more experienced people here may no better!

Mobil 1 Motorsport 15W-50 - had no problems with this. When I rebuilt my 1.8 Saph a few years back I used Magnatec Oil as it claimed to be good, the car smoked like mad after that and I ended up having to change the oil seals again. I try to stay well away from the Castrol stuff now.

Mobil 1 Motorsport 15/50 for the last 4 years of Cossie ownership

I also know a cheap supplier of the stuff (Ł20 for 4 litres) so I love it even more! (Normally Ł37 from Halfords)

I will be at Coombe, but no stand as I'm on the Fast Ford stand this time, plus aim to be on track as much as reasonably possible!

Will bring some with me though so if you come and find me - Flint Grey Saph, white sign writing/stickers all over it.... we'll sort it!
