Default 500 BHP? YB Engine..... Keeping hold of it for now.

Considering selling my motor and scrapping the shell (cos Im sick of the rot ) and building myself an N/A Mk2 Escort with the bits I have sitting around my garage. So obviously this YB will be surplus to requirements should I choose to go that route.

200 block.
0.5 Wiseco std comp pistons with pockets.
Std rods.
ARP rod bolts.
Glacier Vandervell bearings.
Std/std crank.
New oil pump with high pressure spring kit.
Rick Woods cnc ported head (27.3/25.4), fully rebuilt less than 1k miles ago.
Reyland valve springs.
INA lifters.
BD16 inlet cam
BD14 exhaust cam (or std available)
T4 turbo.
2wd exhaust manifold.
Swedish inlet.
Std throttle body.
No fpr or injectors as I haven't got round to buying them yet.

Couple of pics
(greens fitted just to fill the gaps till I got some bigger ones)

Just looking for a ballpark figure to weigh up my options.

No mate, never got it done its on std head bolts. If it needed studding in the future Id just whip it apart and do it then.

The head and turbo cost me over Ł2.5k iirc. Its easy dismantled, whats it worth in bits then? I tend not to break cars if I can help it as I like to see them survive but should the decision be made then Ill have to

You should see close to 800-1000 for the t4

Head depends upon condition - but if all new and complete prob 800-1000 again

Then you have the rest of the engine to sell

Green injectors - 100 quid
Swedish inlet - 2-300 quid
block - condition dependant 700 for a bare block
pistons and rods - 150
crank - 250
verniers - 100

thats roughly 3.5k and prob loads more ive missed

im sure a proper 500bhp engine is worth more than 3.5k - how much are 600bhp engines going for - there cant be that much of a gap between the two surely?

I sold my 400bhp engine and new t34 turbo for 3200 in 2007.

Glenn its just pissing me off mate, Im sick of the sight of it being sat on the drive looking sorry for itself.

Cheers for the replies folks, decided against the Mk2 plan for now so the lump is staying put under a cover in the garage until the shell is making progress or scrapped

the only thing that hurts this engine is that its not got a long studded block,
but its still worth more that what most people say its worth .

Ran Ive got plenty welding to do on it, floorpans, inner sills, outer sills, chassis leg, rear arches and whatever else I find once its up on the spit and Ive dug into it , it could do with some new doors on it too as its gouty in some crap places. Then its a full shoot to my anal standards. Click the link in my sig, theres some pics there of a few bits of it.

I think Im going through one of them "fuck it Im sick, its going" phases...

Mate, that does sound a lot of work, you should've bought the shell Coswurv was selling - i was thinking about it at one point but my saph has more sentimental value attached to it so didnt - luckily m saph wasnt that bad.

I would think about looking for another shell mate, cut your one up for RWD boys to claw some money back and then have a look for a decent/better shell

It is loads of graft but Ive become attatched to it for some reason, plus I like Mercury Grey and there cant be many left now. If I go for a new shell it will have to be a Moonstone one. Did think about Pauls but Im not keen on them in brown

MT Motorsport are doing a T4 for Ł900

http://mt-motorsport.com/marko/index...kvnt72ui1uafl5

Not sure if thats exchange or not

Even at 4k that sounds like a very cheap engine if you ask me, I guess if it was built by one of the popular tuners it would walk away at that money.

The problem is that people think you can build a 500hp yb for a couple of grand which isn't the case at all

Just buy a new shell and get it finished, you know if you sell up you'll end up with another and regret not having the big spec motor.
