XR4x4 Capri?
Hi there i am new to all of this but does anyone know if anybody has converted a 2.8 Capri into a 2.9 4x4 as i have just a quired a fairly rot free Mk3 Capri and i have a lot of Sierra stuff knocking about any info or pics would be great and or suggestions.
I have seen a Capri that has had a sierra engine cradle bolted in the front using standard Capri inner wings and sierra suspension. So if you mod the tunnel and the bottom of the inner wings then shorten the prop it might well fit. I do recall one back in the ninetys that had 4x4 running gear fitted into under an x pack
There was a 400 brake cossie powered 4wd Capri back in the day
Looked boffo standard as well, green it was and looked like a 280
Would probably be your best method of finding out how they did it as it had a fair few mag features

if its fairly rot free stick with the standard gear. i would imagine you would have to cut and fabricate a fair bit to convert it.
i did this to a p100, but have an acre of space to move around in. As i recall, capris are fairly snug to their axle.
sierra engines will go in no sweat though.
A 24v cosworth engine i thinks suits a capri imo.

Thanks for the comments. The 4x4 bed is about 2" to wide to mount up on the chassis no biggie but if i chop it and the engine mounts it then means the rack wont mount up so will have to mod that as well. I have just spotted a 4x4 Mk1 Mondeo on ebay and wasnt sure whether i could use the back subframe of this on the Capri to make it independent? Still thinking at the mo as i am just about to put a XR3i engine in a Mk2 Fiesta and a Mondeo Zetec in a Mk5 escort Cab or poss Mondeo 2,5 v6.
Too much to do and so little time!!!

a guy called rusty made a 4x4 Capri with a Sierra cosworth donor back in the 99,s his garage was called union garage on Mossley Ashton-under-Lyne Manchester I think he still has the car and the garage . It had Sierra inner wings grafted into it and the rear prop was shortened . He used to take it to Santa pod and beat most of the bike times he had a problem with it pulling wheelies at the beginning I think he went to Leda suspension to sort it out .
