Default Tddi mondeo - blue smoke on cold start?

My daily mk3 mondeo has developed a bit of a smoking habit. When starting it in the morning it chucks out blue smoke for 5-10 seconds and sounds a bit lumpy. It is fine when it is warm or if it hasn't been sitting for more than a few hours and otherwise runs fine! Is it something to worry about or could it just be that it's getting on a bit now (has covered 130k).

Cheers

Possible valve stem oil seals as when its sat this gives the oil time to run down the stem and sit on the back of the valve till start up and, as you say, clears after a few seconds of running.
