Evening all
Having some issue's with my mondeo's central locking. Have done some digging about and it seems that it's the control module that's at fault. Does anyone know where abouts on the car it's fitted?
This is the unit I'm looking for

Thanks Dojj, problem is when locking with the remote, the locks just ping open again, when locking with the key in the door the doors lock apart from the nearside rear door. Also the boot release button on the dash doesn't work and the boot release button under the handle works sometimes.
Also, with the engine running, slam the drivers door and the doors will either lock or unlock themselves.
so do you think it's the unit inside the drivers door and not the GEM unit?

it may be the wires in the door for the central locking, getting the plugs apart is really a right pain in the arse of a job to do
if the locks are opening again it would point to something sticking
do they lock internally or not?
when i had problems with my central locking it was the module that was at fault, but i also broke one of the locking cables while i was doing the swap and then i managed to lock myself int the car and it wouldn't open
go to the door that has the issue and remove all the mechanism that does the central locking and see if it works when it's free, at least you can eliminate the motor and do a bit of guess work as to where the porblem may lie if it's mechanical rather than electrical
the boot popped nearly always tends to be the actual microswitch in the tailgate being dry, open it up and grease it and 9 time out of 10 this solves the problem
be careful though, it's a bit delicate

Thanks for the info Dojj! The N/S/R door lock doesn't move at all, regadless of weather you are locking or unlocking with the remote, or the key in the drivers door. The only way to lock or unlock it is manually operating the lock from inside the car. If I leave the rear door unlocked then lock with the key, the other 3 doors will lock ok without pinging open, but the N/S/R door stays unlocked.
I've ordered a new rear door latch from ebay, I'll get that on and go from there

Could be the actual door lock itself.
Mine had a faulty micro switch in it and it did all sorts of mad stuff with the central locking.
Is the control modual you mean not the GEM module Dojj is talking about? If it is the GEM one it wont be cheap as it needs programmed to the car, it controls loads of stuff from central locking, how long heating front screen stays on, the way rear wiper comes on when in reverse if front wipers are on etc

Gems are cheap mate, Ł20 will get you one and you need 30 seconds to reprogram it
The issue comes when you get a gem with the wrong numbers on it
It's up by the drivers side above the accelerator pedal and you have to unplug it a certain way as well before you remove it
If you ask over on talkford.com for a guy called Alex of lxxy I think his user name is, he will probably be your best bet
There are plenty of write uos there too if you can navigate your way around the wiki page

I have a 2007 petrol Mondeo with the rear passenger side door not locking when locked with key in door lock or with remote
the thing that locks the door above the door opening handle won't click inwards to lock it and is stuck
Any idea what the problem is
there is a little red cover on the locking cable which stops it from popping out
this had snapped on mine and was the cause of this
a new one from ford is about Ł8 and easy enough to replace

Hi to everyone the onthe forum . once again sorry about bringing this post back up from the ashes. My problem is a bit different. Now all my door locks are operating as they should when I can get the car to lock but my problem is when lock my car the car locks and deadlocks but when I open the car some times all doors unlock and some times its just the drivers door now im unable open my boot with the button on the dash or trigger on the boot or the button on the fob. I have to use the key to open it manually. now when I lock the car with the key their is no response. I can some times. which is rare of course lock the car with the key BUT it just unlocks its self again if I lock the car manually by the key all doors lock and deadlocks followed by the flashing indicators. Would u guys say that my fault lies in the central locking module as I believe it does as the problem with the fob not responding which does have a new battery. My Mondeo is the mk3 2001 tddi 5 door hatchback thanks chris
