Engine problems between a 2.0 and a 2.2 TDCI
I'm looking to pick up a Mk3 Titanium X.
The difference between insurance is £2. So I'm wondering apart from the BHP, does one engine fair better than the other?
I've read that the 2.0 does tend to have possible clutch, DMF and injector issues but does the same apply for the 2.2?
Is one more reliable than the other?
Also what's the difference in price for 12 month tax?
Thanks.

All modern diesels have DMFs and all cars eventually need new clutches, so they aren't really 'problems' as such. Just bloody expensive service items.
The 2.2s seems to have less injector issues than the 2.0, but there are a lot less 2.2s, so it figures that you hear about them breaking less often.
The 2.2 is a better engine, and I'd definitely have one over a 2.0.

the 2.2 is actually a completely different engine to the 2.0.
I've had both and the 2.0 was a little problematic, had to change the DMF but to be fair, the car had done 80k at the time, also had injector problems.
I'm onto my second 2.2 and touch wood, I've had no problems other than a slight hunt on idle from cold. Never found out what it was though and tbh it didn't bother me as it was gone in 2 mins.
Both good engines and both carry their fair share of niggles.
If I had to choose though, it'd be the 2.2 every time!
