Focus ST starting issue! #pleasehelp!
Morning.....
I am seeking some advice/guidance I recently brought a Focus ST 2006, 62,000 miles from a private seller.
The car was driving fine when the battery light came on, followed by a loss of power and the car cut out.
Trying to re-start the car it turns over very quickly and does not even catch just spins...initially I though cambelt and upon removing the plastic surround and looking down it appears intact and tight. Spinning then engine over inspecting it there seems to be no damage to the belt and it is all intact.
After a bit of research I then though alternator/battery...the alternator was replaced in December 2015 and looks ok and I replaced the battery as a pre-caution, however the faults remains and I think my next step is compression checks.
My question is when you turn the car over the auxiliary belt does not move. I can't visually see any splits or if is has broken up but this is just looking down from the engine bay and when flexed with a screw driver again seems tight.
Should this move with the crank of the engine?? Stupid question I know I am just doubting myself! And has anyone ever come across such a fault?
Thanks
