Some say good some say bad, i think bad. It may reduce heat that your manifold radiates but what it will do instead is disipate the heat elsewhere, ie to the head and valve area etc. Which IMO is not good, you will not be reducing exhaust gas temperature instead you will probably be increasing it. All the wrap is to me is an asthetic thing. It might reduce under bonnet temps at a stand still but as soon as the car starts to move there is no benefit. I should imagine the head would radiate the extra heat also

comment on the above .1.6 does not produce heat that needs to be expelled. a turbo engine does.defo heat wrap is good thing.it reduces under bonet temperatures by not leting them radiate in the engine bay, therefore lower temps in the engine bay but same heat in the exchaust pipes.this is my opinion anyway but ten pounds of alcohol also sounds good to me fuck the wrap.

The purpose of heatwrap is 2 fold, its keeps underbonnet temperatures down by keeping the heat inside the exhaust. Saying that it radiates the heat elsewhere is not correct at all!

Hot gasses flow better than cold Not quite so important on NA cars compared to turbo but still worth doing if you have the time and the patience.

You have to be careful to get an even coverage though as uneven wrapping can cause localised hotspots leading to premature failure of the exhaust material.

If you plan on spending £10 on exhaust wrap I really wouldn't bother as you get what you pay for and I would ONLY buy Thermo-Tec wrap!!

Bearing in mind it would be on a 1.6 so the exhaust manifold isn't even under the bloody bonnet!
