Default frs help..major problem

Hello,

I bought the car a week ago, its not standard. Has gt28 turbo etc bluefin and bits.

On saturday i noticed when the car comes on boost around 4k rpm it started holding back and you could hear the turbo kind of stuttering as it was trying to make boost, then once you had reached around 5k rpm it would clear and come on full boost.

I was advised it could be a misfire so try to replace the spark plugs, which i did today using ford (motorcraft triple platinum plugs). Just took her out and drove fine till i tried to bring her on boost and got again to 4k rpm and i felt her trying to splutter again so backed off the accelerator and changed into 4th but then i could feel the car reving itself with my foot completely off the pedal, pushed the clutch in and she kept revving but really lumpy.

Switched her off and tried all the leads, she then wouldn't start, eventually got her fired up with a load of gas and the revs go wild up and down between 3-4k really lumpy and again the turbo is trying to spin but stuttering away.

Limped her home slowly, can't see anything that could of come off..

Somebody please help!!

Thanks
Ant

Book her in mate.

SCC should be able to sort this out no problem

Have you tried reading the fault codes using the bluefin?

I had problems like this when my MAF went tits up!

Problem solved, well big problem solved so far. The bad running and irractic revving was due to a pipe that had popped off at the rear of the engine and was leaking air.

managed to open her up a little on the way home and she still misfire's under load, so ordering a new coilpack and fingers crossed that'll sort it.

The thing about the coil pack mate is that it would've brought up the EML light and indicated a misfire in whatever cylinder wasn't firing if it was quite bad. Mine did it but wasn't bad at all only on idle and I changed coil pack and it hasn't really cured it. But see how you get on.

hi mate if youve got over 300 bhp and have an uprated walbro pump fitted?if so for the car to run propely you need a minimum of half a tank but more so a full tank as the walbro pump empties the tiny poxy swirl pot that ford fitted to the car faster than it can fill so try filling the car full of petrol then see if car runs propely as i had this problem with mine and car is perfect if i have full tank but misfires below half a tank.hope this helps you mate!

Some modded FRS running the AF engine base map from Ford find that the car can sometimes have a misfire/hesitation when accelerating hard & hitting around 4.5k/5k revs

I say some as some cars are not affected although normally these tend to be unmodded cars
