Default Connecting new stereo to steering wheel controls

I had a new CD player installed into my recently bought second hand '05 Focus to replace the standard cassette player. Unfortunately the garage I took it to did not connect it to the steeing controls.

Is it easy enough to connect the CD player to the steering controls myself?

The garage tried fobbing me off saying it wasn't compatible, even though the box, which I left with them at the time, clearly shows that it is.

Unfortunately having spoken to a few other people about this garage quite a few similar stories of shoddy workmanship and blatant lies have been mentioned and I don't want to have to take it back to them but also don't want to have to pay another garage for what may be a 30 second job.

What radio is it? Make and Model?
You might have to buy an adaptor, I paid £35 for mine.

Did u say that the actual stereo was compatable with steering column controls? I only say that as only a certain amount of stereo's come with the facility, I've got a dvd headunit in my own car n I dont believe its suitable 4 steering column controls
