at the end of the day the evo is the quicker car,lets face it 9/10 times that evo would spank the rs turbo on the public roads,and 10/10 times on the track!!
and thats just a mildly tuned example! where as the rs turbo is pretty much at its limits. dont get me wrong its good to see the old ford give the evo a run for its money,but at the end of the day the evo wins hands down in everyway,which is the answer to this topics question... its not always about speed mate.id rather an rst any day,if i had an evo id sell it put a deposit down on a house.with a garage which i could keep my rst in.ive driven evos and scoobies etc and none of them are as fun 2 drive as my frst.feels like an out of control go cart with tons of torque steer.not only that if i see an evo go past me in the street i think 
look its another evo suprised? no they made enough of them what they on now evo 9 if i see an rst or cossie etc go past theres something about them the rarety and classicness that makes me fascinated about them!thats my opinion anyway!rst till i die

There are some super fast fords, that can keep up with some of the fastest of jap cars which have a clear advantage in modern engineering but the cosworth foundations keep em going strong. Of course theres faster cars than fords when did anyone claim otherwise. get it straight 1st before stupid comments.
In this case a 18 year old escort which had 132hp from standard now just under 200hp above that beat an 04' or similar evo that was 100hp above standard. Considering the time gap and mechanical advantages etc i'd say this was defintely fair to compare power gains...and the escort won

This thread makes me laugh every time I read it. Where did I, or anyone, ever say that the RST was the better car in every respect and that Evo owners all over the world should be selling up and buying RST's??
Gary and I regularly have situations where both cars can be compared. On a road that is tight and twisty, I wouldn't stand a chance. However, on a road with a good mix of straights and twisties I wouldn't bet on the outcome.
Also, if I were to race from say, round the M25, I reckon I would be there in the services sipping tea before Gary arrives. The same would most probably be true of any road that has as many straights as it does corners. I reckon I could gain enough lead over a 1-mile straight if we were on the move to offset the fact that I couldn't get round the corner as fast.
We could argue about this all day, but the point only ever was that it is very satisfying to be able to upset what is considered to be one of the better cars Jap cars. On the track, I have passed Porsche's, TVR's, Caterhams etc. Imagine how they feel when they see a Mk4 Escort flashing them to get out of the way!!

on a rolling start it would of been even more covincing, we know what RST's are like off the line. The evo overall is a faster car when was that disputed....

I mentioned the time gap since it was said that christians car was tuned so far above standard, but with modern engineering on the Evo's side i don;t think this gives the s2 any major advantage, especially against a 380hp evo!!
