This thread makes me laugh every time I read it. Where did I, or anyone, ever say that the RST was the better car in every respect and that Evo owners all over the world should be selling up and buying RST's??
Gary and I regularly have situations where both cars can be compared. On a road that is tight and twisty, I wouldn't stand a chance. However, on a road with a good mix of straights and twisties I wouldn't bet on the outcome.
Also, if I were to race from say, round the M25, I reckon I would be there in the services sipping tea before Gary arrives. The same would most probably be true of any road that has as many straights as it does corners. I reckon I could gain enough lead over a 1-mile straight if we were on the move to offset the fact that I couldn't get round the corner as fast.
We could argue about this all day, but the point only ever was that it is very satisfying to be able to upset what is considered to be one of the better cars Jap cars. On the track, I have passed Porsche's, TVR's, Caterhams etc. Imagine how they feel when they see a Mk4 Escort flashing them to get out of the way!!
