it honestly wouldnt bother me , i know what car id rather have , and what cars worth more after owning one for a coupla years, the evo will do 90 % of escorts , im not going to get into an argument with anyone, i just prefer evos .......although any car can be made faster than the other. It's just a question of how much money and time you have.

thats all it is , just an old van , i never said it was better than anything else , i use it for work and it does the job , but seriously, drop the sarcasm for a second, the escort chassis is NOT great in the twisties .....if you want to keep being sarcastic thats up to you

also the wheelbase on the combi is identical to that of the car

I didnt realise he was using that turbo, I assumed he was using something a little bigger. Im actually quite pleased to hear that, because that is the same turbo I have got, the GT28RS, just gotta get it fitted.

 

Not all that impressive really? The Evo totally mullers the RST up to 150mph where the evo either hit the limiter or backed off.

In a real world situation the evo would eat the RST for brekkie every time.

It takes a whole lot of BHP to reel in an Evo that is at least 350bhp that blasts off the line with a full-bore, twin-plate clutched, ALS'd launch.

No-one ever claimed that the RST was the better car overall, it was a simple video that proved that the might of the Evo can sometimes be overcome.

Put someone behind the wheel of my car who can launch and the Evo wouldn't have gained quite such a lead at the start. On the road, with me infront and Gary behind, he is nailed to my Bumper in 1st and 2nd, then I start to pull away in 3rd.

too many evos around anyway. dont get looked at in the same way rsts do. yeah, quicker in real world but still a common fast car

End of the day guys,a 18 year old car beats a evo for a change.Everyone always wants to prove they can make an old car beat the new scum on the road.I say well done to them!

A rst can be set up just as good as a evo or scooby for the twisty parts.got nothing to do with the bloody body.

So carm down people and all get along.

I think everyone realistically would like an evo (££££££££)

but i think it would be much more satisfying to have an RS that pisses on the evo, tala mr executive

 

i much much rather have my rst instead of ANY other evo. i'd only to the evo to sell on and buy a cossie

 

like you all say it is nice to see and old escort show new tricks.BUT over the two i would have the evo.(and i hate jap motors)the transmision is bombproof from what ive heard!! and an evo will always go faster than a cossie......... Fastest cossie is around 10secs,norris's evo is in the low 9's.NOW IN RACING TERMS THAT IS A MASSIVE GAP! On average there must be faster fords than evos out there,but thats cos the fords are getting on now so parts are easyier to get,most of them are modded.give it a couple of years and we will struggle to keep up!!!im just looking at the big picture.

WRONG!! The transmission certainly isn't Bombproof. Gary's 20,000 mile 51 plate car has had to have a Gearbox rebuild and is on the second competition clutch is around 18 months. The first was an Exedy Hyper Single (worth around £800) and only lasted for 3000 miles the current one is a Hyper Twin and cost around £1200.

No-one is disputing what is the 'better' car, but its neat when an 18 year-old Ford that rolled out of the factory with 132bhp can waste a 350bhp car such as an Evo. It's just for novelty value. As said originally, I wouldn't race him for log books around any track in the UK, however, I would have a wager if we were to race down a runway.
