Default NOISE FROM ENGINE!!?!

I started the car up in the garage earlier and when u rev it i can hear i quick sharp high pitched sqreech from around the cam belt area slightly lower down than the vernier pulley, when it ticks overits fine it only does it when u give it a quick rev?? , not all the time? any ideas chaps cheers

yeah its just the alternator drivebelt mate, 5 minute job just needs tightening

Yep alternator belt ,also check for cracks in the belt ,may need changing

it sounds higher pitched than a alernator belt, the 2 pulleys between the crank and cam are these the waterpump and oil pump pulleys, could it be thebearings of one of these, probably be constant and get worse the revs though wouldnt it?... ill look at the alternator in the mornng..cheers

Test it by spraying some wd-40 on the belt when its running if the noise stops, its that.

tried that still there, there is some play in the alternator belt so ill adjust that first, then see,.could it be any of the bearings in the water/oil pulleys??

if you seriously think it could be the water pump then stop running the car, because if the water pump seizes it could snap cam belt and cost you a new head

how an i test the waterpump? the car isnt diven much anyway
