Default Major help needed !

Tonight on my way home the orange light with a picture of a car skiding kept flickering on and off really quickly as if there was a loose connection or something ??? Then later i had to do an emergency stop then emedently after theres this constant metal grinding noise like something was draging on the floor, so i got underneath but i couldnt see anything So i took it really easy home with this loud noise still constantly there then about half way home that orange light stayed on and its still on now ??!! Plus the car now wants to stall everytime i come to a stop

Has anyone come accross this before ? as i want to sort of know where to begin looking for the problem.

Cheers
Sam

Hiya not many on at this time so i thought i'd lend a hand so here goes; the light in question is your anti lock brakes light (ABS) and they have sensors on to tell you your brake pads are low which sounds to me like your problem mate. i'm 99.9% sure so don't go too far if anywhere and expect your brakes to save you cos chances are they won't, take a look or get them checked out ASAP. hope this helps you out, Good luck with it, Regards, Grant.

or there are sensors in the belt modulators, they are a thin strip of metal with wires going to them inserted into the belt covers, which sensors the grooves on the driveshaft, one of these could of fallen inside

Hi guys thanks for the replys, I did think it was something to do with the brakes at first but then with one of my previous cars when the pads were low it only made the noise when braking not a grinding noise all the time.

Ill have a look at the pads later, and i think it could be the belt modulators as the noise is constant.

Thanks again ill post later as i get on.
Cheers

the sensors in the abs modulator covers are in contact with the abs belt, usually means the belt has snapped or the sensor is faulty when the light comes on

The ABS light has nothing to do with brake pad wear. It is solely there to tell you the ABS belt is either loose or broken. As the light is flickering it would indicate the belt is loose rather than broken.

Undo the modulator retaining bolts and retension the belt or the best option is to pop into your local friendly tuner and get the ABS system removed. The brakes will be transformed for the better

i'm saying nothing, i could be wrong if so fair enough i'll hold my hands up but that's the experience i've had, it happened to me when my pads were worn and as a result they came loose explaining both the abs light and the embarrassingly loud scraping noise but i'll wait for the verdict from sam for now.
