The ABS light has nothing to do with brake pad wear. It is solely there to tell you the ABS belt is either loose or broken. As the light is flickering it would indicate the belt is loose rather than broken.

Undo the modulator retaining bolts and retension the belt or the best option is to pop into your local friendly tuner and get the ABS system removed. The brakes will be transformed for the better
