About 9:1 would be good for turbocharged engine. Just remember give enought fuel and watch those backpressures, backpressure should be lower than boost. If it´s over those boost that is the thing that brakes head gaskets and things like that

u'll melt it v quickly at 9:1

std is 8.3, dont go lower than 7.8 which can take 30psi.

Rick of course u melt it if try to run it with std turbo and with ke-jet.. but if your looking more than usual, then its about 9:1 mappable engine management, better/bigger turbo.

Why cant u use large boost with higher comp, if many others can? I have 8.5:1 in my rst, runs fine, couple of people i know uses 9:1 in their cosworth´s and 2 bar boost, isn´t that enough boost?

i have cvh myself i used to use 0,8 bar, but when it comes back to street again i´ll be using about 1,5 bar. Also I´m building zetec for my rst, and will be using about 9:1 cr and about 1,5 bar boost.
Last weekend I was helping my friend with his peugeot 205 mi16 turbo, he has little over 9:1 cr and 1 bar boost, more boost is onto way just waiting new injectors.
backpressure and lean fuel is those what brakes engines, a lot often that too high cr or boost.

Pugs have diffrent fuel injections, i dont know much about them, except they smoke and they are weak!!
i suggest you take a visit to the cossie romo and see wot compression ratios they are runnin, most run around 7.5:1....at 30psi .....not quite at 9:1 like you said!
if you like high compression thats upto you, but get a spare set of pistons and rings, and keep 'em close by!!!!

GOOD LUCK!!!

P.s You'll need an intercooler the size of a boeing 747.... to keep them air temps down!

off course those things is in order, also is everything else, but why I need spare pistons and rings? That " cossie romo" you said, why is it using such a low cr? let me guess, they are using garret t3 or very small t4? If so then it+s obviouss that they use lower cr because higher cr will brake the engine, and why´s that? Because backpressure from very small turbo will raise temperature too high.

How about water injection??? does it works???
On my 1.6 cvh, I'm planing on making 17 p.s.i., on standart pistons, using a grs evo intercooler and a 5th injector!
I haven't got much information about these things here in Portugal, so I ask you what do you think about it? do you think it will hold on, or will it shread the pistons in no time??
´Cheers everybody!!
