i got a weird tapping noise only when the car is moving, it doesnt make the noise when stationary at same revs. its defo metal on metal but car performance isnt affect and no miss fire or judder!
car has done about 12 miles since rebuild!
any ideas?
engine has been rebuilt.
all brand new:-
tappets
followers
kent 35 cam
standard pistons rings
standard bigend small end bearing shells.
water pump
tensioner
cam belt
orignal parts not replaced are:-
double springs
bigger valves
oil pump
pistons
conrod
crank
flywheel
any ideas???

I had a simaler noise mate turned out to be a tappet witch decided to sieze one night..... same syptoms etc who rebuilt it? id take it back if you can

steve i built it me self! ive been thinking that a tappet is dud, or my oil pump is on its way out, and gaz my gearbox need replacing as the syncro is on its way out!!

So can be either!

a bit of metal got into one of my bearings and ripped it to bits and fooked my crank.
its curremtly being regrounded and with oversized bearings, and a higher pressure oil pump so i can run an oil cooler
