Default Noisy Fuel Pump!!!

My fuel pump sounds rough as fook at the mo on tick over kind of a real loud "Buzzing"???
As fuel gets lower it gets louder and louder until i top up!

Would a dodgy pump make much difference performance wise?

you might not have a knackerd pump it might just be thatthe fuel pump noise dampening rubbers are knackerd and the pump is vibrating of the inside of the mounting bracket mounted to the floor.

i am pretty sure its a problem with the pump and not its mounting brackets because it really whines when it is low on fuel so much that it embarasses me.

A noisy pump should not make much difference performance wise m8, my pump starts getting real noisy when am low on fuel just above the red so I try and keep it above the quarter tank all the time! A pump off an xr3i or 1.6i orion is the same if it gets too noisy

To be honest ive just had a new pump and its fine just a small amout of buzzing which i think is normal but you should expect it to be louder when really low on fuel as i think all pumps to this

a noisey pump, theres gotta be something wrong with it, its proberly tired anyway if been on there from new,

as said before, a good fuel pump on a rst is critical for fueling, as the years goes by the pump loses its smoothness of the flow, leading to lean fueling and a blown up engine, so u might aswell replace it anyway for a piece of mind

as above, a seriously whinning pump means its dying generally.....and it will make a difference to performance, ie. lack of fuel!!! at best a bit of a power drop, at worst a melted engine

Do not trust a noisy pump. The cost of the potential damage could be the difference between the price of a new pump (£100??) and a rebuilt engine (£2000???)....
