Default ERST couple of Q's

1990 ERST

Is the fuel pump located in the cradle next to the tank, and if so is there anything in the tank that can be replaced ?

The ecu's, do they hold information eg fault codes and can they be wiped and rewritten ?

Had a few issues with the car and now someone else has got it but being given conflicting info, First bloke reckons he's replaced the Fuel pump in the tank and wiped and rewritten the ecu as it was holding fault codes, Bloke who's got it now says see that next to the tank, it's the fuel pump and doesn't look very new and that the ecu's don't hold fault codes and cannot be wiped.

Tillio, you know the first bloke and I'm leaning towards believeing the second.

2nd bloke is correct as far as the fuel tank / pump is concerned. The pump IS the item in the cradle behind the fuel tank, and theres nothing in the fuel tank that the 1st guy could have changed.

I cant say i've ever heard anyone say that an ERST ECU holds fault codes which require the ECU to be wipe and the data re-written.

No fault coded at all. There is a swirlpot in every injection fuel tank.

Car still not right so he says needs new flywheel as there are two different sizes and this is causing confliction with crank positioning sensor, so have new flywheel, then says ecu is holding fault codes need to clear and rewrite it, so wait for this then eventually get car back and still running like a sack of shite.

Get new bloke on case, he looks round and says fuel pump ain't new and you can't wipe the ecu's and they don't hold codes.

Had argies with first bloke and he is adamant fuel pump has been changed and it's in the tank, but won't come up with receipts or removed part.

Replies to this post confirm the second bloke who has car now knows what he's on about and the first bloke needs
