zetec turbo oil return and oil drain from breather..
I have had 2 x 16mm tails welded into my sump but a mate of mine said they may not be in the correct place. They are both below the oil level, does it matter ?

The breather may matter (Might force oil out at high RPM maybe) but the oil return doesn't matter.

Both of mine are below. I did a lot of research from all over the place and it's split vote. Big power boys have them below and above without problems. It's down to you I suppose

I know a kid that's argument is all sorts of crap. Pressure, oil surging back up the return. But nobody has any proof these are reason to be concerned. All you hear is that it should be above.
Oh and because that's how ford made them on cvh turbos.

It's because ford put them in the block in a frs actually lol
I heard for some reason it makes them smoke but my silvertops return is in my sump and I have no issues even with the most basic breather system

That's the first time I've heard of smoke issues. And if that's the reason ford did it then they must be reading from the bible so it's got to be true
It's worth looking at other setups to see if it makes a difference on other makes
