Default Cylinder Head building!

Hi Guys,

Got my self a bare efi cylinder head which i need to build the question i have is what size are the standard valves? and where can i get them?

as for the rest like springs etc i have a piper 285 cam tappets, springs etc which i will transfer over should i just take all the rocker arms and everything to or can i get new ones?

If so would any of you guys use motor factor bits from APD, GMF or GSF etc?

Thanks

Lewis

Probably cheaper to buy a used head then buy new valves

i got a complete head minus cam, with everything else

but no need for new rockers, not sure if the valves are the same from you old one to new as its 25+years old and could have had all sorts of stuff done in that time, best to get an engine builder to measure it all up to be 100%

I thought all 1.6 cvh valves were the same? I say this because I have two 'turbo' valves in my carbed cvh

the cvh turbo came with big valves as std, im assuming this iswhat makes the turbo head unique to other cvh heads

I've got a set. I have 3 cylinder heads now haha I just wasn't sure if it was worth putting all new valves in howvever if marks head has 30k or whatever it was on it then I might as well use that and put my piper cam in!

Disappointed with this thread. Expected to see a building made from cylinder heads.

The only difference between heads is casting thickness (some can be opened up more than others), some came with oversized cam and/or lifters and S1 heads had sodium filled exhaust valves.
Obviously EFI/MFI have different inlet port shapes too before someone says it! lol

oops. the cvh had fairly big valves, I just thought this was exlucive to the turbo's. what are the reasons for the s2 not having sodium filled valves? cost cutting or just that the material was up to it without the need
