Default Quaife diff??

Hi everyone my brother has a S2 escort and had a cts stage 2 gearbox fitted until last week when he lost 3rd gear chasing a motorbike lol so has now fitted a standard box back in for the time being (whilst sourcing parts for his mtx conversion) and the car drives loads better.
When it had the cts box in which is fitted with a quaife diff the car used to pull all over the road like really bad torque steer but now fitted with the standard rst gearbox it hardly pulls.

Has anyone else had problems like this???

.

I used to have that on my old XR2 turbo, was running about 250bhp plus and used to go all over the road (more so on uneven bumpy roads), drove better with an LSD but hard accelerating through bends especially on track days the Quaife was better IMO. I always throught it was because i had 600lb & 550Lb spring front and rear

It's because the Quaife unit is working far better than the old S2 LSD... When one wheel starts to lose traction it shifts the torque to the other, then when that loses traction it goes back again and so on and so forth.... hence the all over the road effect, it's constantly fighting to keep traction across both wheels.

i tryed a standard gearbox , then blew lsd gearboxes etc but car always drove the best and handles the best with the quaiffe atb diff in my ib5 box. the quaiffe feels so good and grips properly, my car dont be all over the road it grips and just pulls off quickly, pushed it hard in the bends etc and hadles fine.. it has f1 eagle tyres. maybe you need new tyres or wheel alignment etc
