Default Rs turbo s2 turbo noise

Hi there on my escort rs s2 when cruising in high gears say 4 or 5 at low revs when I go to accelerate a strange scratching hissing noise starts but if I accelerate harder ans spool the turbo up it stops.it sounds like the turbo fins are touching the casing but I know that's very unlikely...any ideas?? It has a bailey dv26 dump valve but doesn't sound like its coming from that...thanks

strange scratching......?

Anyway the 'hissing' would be the vacuum. That's perfectly fine, the noise will stop as you are putting positive vacuum as the turbo is boosting, negative vacuum (ie) normal driving before building up boost.

Turbo is easy to check mate, just get your boost pipe off and have a look.

Do you have an in-car bleed valve? Mine used to hiss as it bled off to atmosphere behind the dash.
