Default Warning to all with oil pressure gauges and question

Hello guys,

I think all of you who have aftermarket oil pressure gauges you will fit the gauge on the place where the oil comes out the bottom end and where the std sensor is.

Well i did the same, oil temp and oil pressure, but i had to keep them away from the oilfilter. Which resulted in the choice between a bit on the lose side or mega tight.

I choice the second and created this for myself

So please guys watch it. I might have been uncouth, but i'm pretty sure i'm not the first one with this and not the last one. You won't really notice with the engine in, but with it out you can spot these break marks!

Anyway now i want to get my pressure sensors away from the oil filter and not on this place anymore. Does anybody have oil temp and pressure later in the hose?

Like this but then with the sensors instead of a filter

Really curious to the solutions around!

you bought a set somewhere or just let them make two pieces and fitted a adapter yourself inbetween?

I fitted a piece of oil hose to an old focus once, then a t-piece and then the original sensor and the sender for the gauge. Worked just fine. I have also used a sandwich plate which also did just the same job but kept leaking! It was a cheap ebay jobber though.

You guys fitted the sandwich plate instead of the heatexchanger? What i know is that the heatexchanger has a valve to prevent the oil from leaking out the filter. Does this dissapear then?

I started without one cause at the begin a ran an extra oil cooler but that moved to my trackcar

@richieST do you maybe have a photo? What you mean with an old focus ounce?

You fitted braided lines or normal rubber hose. How you connected the sensors into the hose? Not with just a hose clamp right?

Nightmare should be able to have that welded tho, i was always told by a few engine turners you shouldnt use the oil pressure gallery for temp readings always go into the sump or a cooler pipe

At my engine rebuilder they had special stuff for it. Without preheating they where able to weld it. Went pretty easy! It has the weld on it now. it's not like a flat surface with the weld in it. But that would be really hard indeed!

For a temp reading i deff wouldn't go into a sump. The more oil you put in the lower your temp read out will be... No in my opinion not the place to go.

Cooler pipe dunno which one you mean, but as you say it yourself a cooler cools, so you have no idea of the actual oil temp comming out of the engine going to your sump.

On the RST we miss the turbo which still has a lot of heat, but i think it's quite like best you can get in an easy way

I'm curious to the story of RichieST! Really looking forward to see how he made it!
