Default Gear linkage rebuild, springs/blocks

Hi I've got quite a bit of side to side play in my gear linkage from the selector housing not from the UJ. Will new springs and blocks improve this? Can I replace them without removing linkage from car I.e. remove torx screws, remove four bolts of selector housing, drop housing, replace blocks/springs and then refit housing?

Thanks

Didn't know they were still available from fords?! .... The springs and blocks are Ł12 of the bay so cheaper than another linkage.

Does anyone know if I can change the springs and blocks with linkage still attached to car?

S1 or s2 rst linkage ??
S1 the springs r smaller diametre .blocks r the same .

Gear linkage off imo ,eassier 2 do that way

stick a puma linkage on less throw , quicker gear change ,

I would just go the puma linkage route.

Bin standard rst linkage , put a puma 1 on , basically similar 2 puttin a b un m quick shift on ur rs , also reduces vibration , since puma lingage has a rubber mount at gear stick end , u just need 2 drill 2 holes 2 mount it in position .

Only draw back is there will b now gate 2 stop u sellecting reverse whilst goin from 3rd 2 4 rth , but i personally aint ad this 2 happen yet ..lol , is a good upgrade for the price though , Ł25 from a scrappy ... Can put pics up if u like wen on car ,2 c fittment ???

Drl......... I suppose u could do it on car , springs r easy enough 2 change as u just un do the torx screws on side of case in , its the blocks u may av probs with as they can b fiddly as ull need 2 do the through top , it really is just as easy 2 take linkage off , select 2nd gear so gear box rod is pushed into box un un do off gear box un drop whole thing down un off ....

The puma linkage doesnt "self centre" in neutral like the Mk4 linkage does...
