Im going for a mk2 RS box in mine collected it monday, rated at 400 ft/lb
The ST170 box is a good conversion, not rated at the same torque figure but they seem to hold up very well and are a lot easier to fit than my option. Not really had much dealing with the MTX box tbh.
With 400 bhp though you will deffo need to sort it

Ah Luke mate i am so freaked out by the huge mk2 Rs box thats now sat in my unit
Not sure there will be a fair amount in bits alone, custom clutch, flywheel, adaptor plate, driveshafts etc plus hydraulic clutch etc.....
Chassis to be modded in simular way to other conversions with a mount on the side on the inner wing/chassis leg and one at the rear for the torque link thingy. RS runs a support bearing on the longer drive shaft so that the cv joints are at the same angle, not sure how this will be made to work as of yet. Realised today aswell i may have to run a stack dash as im not too sure where the speedo drive will come from ?? Not so sure the conversion will work with a standard cvh block either due to the oil filter location, the starter motor on the mk2 sits directly in line with this. On the black top zetec the oil filter take off is on the opposite side of the block at the back so ill be running a remote filter to save space around the back! Some serios thinking to be done but will be worth it in the long run.
Got the box for 500 quid with driveshafts which is a bargain, only reason i decided to go ahead with the conversion tbh. Not bad saying its a 2010 one with only 10k on it shes just nicely bedded in!!
As soon as engine is built id like to think we can make a start on fitting the new box and possibly be out for around may/june
There will be 3 of us running this conversion from NMS so should be fun

The Focus RS mk2 box, that sounds an interesting conversion.
We work on these boxes on a daily basis. I raced my FRSmk2 in Time Attack last year at 500bhp with 255 Toyo R888 and never had a single issue with the transmission or drive componants. It also has a LSD as standard.
I would love to offer info if req, and watch your progress.
Simon.

Found a box with 10k on with shafts for 500 quid and it got delivered to Derby so it was a no brainer tbh.
Its a huge conversion in terms of parts required and custom bits being made but they way i see it its fit and forget and rated at 400 ft/lb for a car way more than the magic ton! Need to run a didgi dash too as the focus takes the reading for the speedo from the ecu so there is no manual drive for the speedo!
Will start a build thread when i actaully make a propper start my heater has died and its been so bloody cold this last few weeks, couple that with a really bad chest and ive not felt like making a start in my cold lock up.
Getting a little excited to say the least
