Oh too familiar mfi problems! what to do?
is mfi worth persisting with or should i be looking to convert to efi and be done with it
i dont want a mega power rst, just want something i can fire up and go for a blast in with my son.
mine currently takes forever to start and when it does start runs like crap, i know a good setup on it would do it the world of good but i currently have the dash out getting the alarm all fitted up and lots of odds and ends sorted out so not an option at the second really
so the question is where should i be focusing my energys on i ask the veteran rs owners? id prefer to stay cvh at this time
cheers

if i efi it id just buy a complete rusty frst and drop the lot in
part of me wants to keep the mfi as that way its more origional to the car, just a little deflated at the sec

I hated MFI on my ERST. When it worked it run sweet as a nut but it was forever in Tremona being set up I went down the EFI route but it is a lot of fannying around, your best swapping the lump if your buying a donor FRST.

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
im at the 200hp stage with mfi and its sound. just keep an eye on it with setups ect. for much over that power your best going for decent management. efi off the fez is ok if the lot is dropped in but i dont think its worth the hassle of gathering bits ect. i will be getting standalone when the forged bits go in. atm 200hp is entertaining yet controllable in the dry.

id be really happy with 200bhp, got it running now after reading a good tech archive, was the cold start valve at fault, disconnected it and it fired straight up

Some interesting responses in this thread fella's! lol
Bottom line is MFI parts are all old and mostly unreliable, if your lucky and have one that's low mileage, in good condition and is still working ok then that's great! If you don't then EFI is the way to go, IMO not Fiesta, Cossie or any of the other 20+ year old management that's out there as you can have almost as many problems as with MFI (old broken looms and ECU's, etc.).
There are many very capable aftermarket systems catering for all budgets out there to choose from and that is the way to go.
