really struggling with this now, i took my rs turbo to ford fair did two laps round the track then someone came off so we all had to end session early, so drove off the track then when i dipped the clutch the car cut out and wouldn't restart, so checked all the plugs and leads all fine so left it for a coulpe of hours, went back to it and it started then cut out after a few seconds, it took a while but then got it started again and had to keep the revs up to keep it running and managed to get it home like this
ive looked for air leaks but cant seem to find anything, ive removed the dump valve and boost gauge but still no joy, changed both ecus but still no joy
so please anyone with any ideas i can try tmos?

Right guys ive changed the fuel pump relay, changed the dizzy cap, checked all boost hoses, car starts from cold no probs then after a minute or so just drops the revs and dies, then doesnt want to start again, left it for a few mins and got it going again and kept the revs on by adjusting the accelerator cable and it just started surging up and down by 200 revs, checked all leads and plugs for spark all fine, so anybody any more ideas, anybody think it could be metering unit?

Have u changed the dizzy it's self or sounds like maybe air leak somewhere spray wd40 or easy start that type of thing around gaskets joints etc see if the revs change

Air leak someone has said that so will give it ago, didnt change the full dizzy just the cap, i'll have try and get hold of one this week thanks

The reason I say change dizzy is my first Rs all of a sudden wouldn't run only if I kept the revs up through eccelerator if I let of it would die it would start but only run for 15mins then cut out then wouldn't start for 15mins then run for 10mins then wouldn't start for 10mins then 5mins and so on then some1 suggested dizzy as there was something in it that would get hot and break down so I changed dizzy for a new 1 and was sound after that if you can get a good second hand 1 just to try see if that works

just waiting for a dizzy to turn up, in the mean time ive sprayed easy start round the gaskets but found no leaks, blocked off the dump valve and boost gauge but still no joy, unplugged the plug on the right hand side of metering unit and car just wouldnt run so i assume that is all good, also changed coolant temp sensor no change, so dizzy next when it turns up
