Default boost stalling, losing power, have i bought a shed

guys
just got this rs last week, only took it out for second time tonight.

drive back from leeds to lincoln was fine 100%

took out tonight, all good, coming off a roundabout in 2nd, gave it the beans and it hesitated the boost, it went for it lost power, went for it agin, lost power went for it again and it was off.

this happened coming off every roundabout.

also when i was on way home, turning right, clutch down low speed of 10mph, it cut out on me. this happened twice, then went to accelerate normal driving and revs dropped right down, losing ability to acceleration then it didv after a few seconds

im worrying now something is wrong and the rs was a bad purchase

any ideas

also the temp gauge is sitting above half way, between the n and the o, when fan kicks in it drops to half way

It had a new fuel pump in 2008/2009 I think, the fuel is above the red, like a quarter full
It's going to rolling road station to be looked at, am worrying though really am now

fuel gauge is notoriously inaccurate. id check for split hoses, oil breather is in one piece and then check fuel pump wiring all way through. inc relay. id also fill her up and see if the prob persists as it could simply be a fuel starvation issue(low on fuel). check all plugs/leads ect are secure. fuel filter may need replacing. if running low on fuel rtegular, all the sediment soon blocks the fuel filter. try the easy/cheapest things first.

Right many thanks I'll fil her up tomorrow, hopefully you are right on the fuel, I'll also keep you posted on the tuning station output on this rs

Also you know the temp gauge question in my original question, is that sitting in the right place, over half way then half way the fan kicks in?
The engine is all standard apart from s/s exhaust and k&n

i use aftermarket temp gauge but irc halfway sounds about right. at least the fan is effective if its drops the temp. i reckon your problem lies with the lack of fuel in your tank. most people run at least half a tank with the uber shite std fuel tank, slosh slosh.

It may have had the tank replaced with a non swirl pot one, mate had this and it'd cut out coming to lights if he had less than 1/4 tank.

cant believe it was that, i wast about quarter full but guess your right.
my yaris and bike i run right into the red before i fill up strange how this is so odd/different, why is that? lol

because it probably doesnt have an rs turbo tank with swirl pot fitted its probably o a standard tank so when low on fuel and cornering slowing down etc the fuel is sloshing away from the pump pickup

No it's a grey one, H reg, also is it worth changing for an rs turbo petrol tank or just leaving it as it is?

It'd be better, but along as you keep it above half tank you'll be ok.

Always better to have the right bits. If it were me I'd get a new tank for sake of Ł100 or so.

Any injection tank should do, xr3i etc. sure there's some on eBay. External pump tank is easiest for you.

All the patern tanks do this. Got a brand new one in my fiesta. Has a swirl pot. Still cuts out under quarter tank.

Ive got a brand new tank on mine from a very good supplier who stated the correct swirl pot etc but has starvation issues below 1/4 of a tank.......tbh the fuel gauge isnt anything to go by on these cars!!!

Im getting NMS to make me a swirl pot for when the fuel system gets beefed up

Glad its sorted mate
