Clutch pedal removal
I need to remove the clutch pedal on my series 2 escort. I have removed the drivers seat for more room. I have also removed to R clip things that look like they hold the shaft in..
However, i cant get the shaft to move (with grips, hammer ect)
I only need the clutch pedal off to modify it for a hydraulic conversion.
Any advise much apritiated!

It should pull towards the drivers side, have you got both the clips off? Sometimes you'll have to wobble the pedals slightly side to side as the plastic collars sometimes grop the centre rod.

Yes i have removed 2 gold coloured clips that slot over the rod. If thats all that holds the rod in place then il have to just hsve another go. I also noticed there was a flat on end of the bar, dont suppose that has to be in a certain position?

Hope that makes sense?
It may pull out toward the centre of the car, it's been ages since i did one, but definatly the flat last!

If its anything like a sierra it would be easyer to remove the clutch/brake pedal assemberly, its only 3 nuts and one bolt on the sierra, you then have it infront of you to make the job easyer.

They're not bad at all, When i was messing around doing the mk6 pedal mod on someones car i had to have it in and out a few times, could get it all out, sorted and back together in 20 mins

Fair play, and a skilled bloke could do it in 20 mins. To me it looks like 20 mins...
However, I have shit skills! and find trying to get the circlips back on a complete twating bastard, that an the bruises I get on my back from lying upside down whilst trying to avoid beating my head on the pedals!

Oh dear! People are hating this job!! Lol, well i got the thing out now, but the pedal is a different shape to the one that Karlos G did a conversion on that i was following on how to do it. I looked at my mates series 1 pedal and i need one like his! Not sure if mines been changed in the past or what but the one i have is no good as there is a bracket and captive nut welded on for adjustment of a long alen key bolt that goes up to the plastic ratchet thing. This bracket is in the way of where the master cylinder rod needs to go. Il try and modify it tomorow, if it doesnt work, il try and find the right type pedal and hope it fits ok!
