Why do you need to know who the owners are? You're not looking in the right places if you can't find out for yourself anyway.

They cannot confirm the original owners identity as you've been told already.

Go back to the start of this thread and read it all again,as you've also been told already the correct KNOWN information is there.

I could give you registration numbers of all 3 cars etc but that is not information for me to be giving out without the owners consent.

If you really want to know though there are photos of them all on the net on various different Ford sites.

Why's it shady?

There is proof that Diana drove the car Bonkers now owns. That's public knowledge and widely available over the internet and via Mark himself if you ask. This car was painted black from factory. http://bbs.rsownersclub.co.uk/showthread.php?t=201436

There is the second car Hynes mentioned via Mark (Bonkers) email. This has Royalty related history. This car was recently sold so it's not my place to put their name on here or able to post the proof of history, but it is there. As far as the previous owner could tell this car was painted black from factory (the car was stripped down partly for checks which revealed black all over and not what you would expect from an original white car with a black blow-over).

Then we have the third car owned by Paul the insurance guy. He's currently trying to trace the full history, but he doesn't know why or when it was re-painted as Ford had it done. http://bbs.rsownersclub.co.uk/showthread.php?t=352555


As for confirmation of the first owners, they all say Ford. Hence the interest into why they are not white and what happened to them. In the case of Paul, the post-Ford owners who may know are not around anymore. One previous owner who rebuilt it investigated but there is no-one from the dealership who knows why - it was 25yrs ago and those people who worked there don't anymore.
As to the reason for the other black cars? Who knows? Perhaps none of them were supposed to be in the spotlight, it just happened that as Diana was married to the heir of the throne and the public loved her then the car was photographed co-incidentally. Decoys or not there are no photographs in the public domain currently with the 'proof' of use or ownership of the other cars, maybe time will tell.... I hope so, it would be great to get more photographic proof and history.

If you wish to know more about the cars you'll have to speak to the individual owners concerned, but I hope this helps remove any untruths or stories people have heard.

Well that was information over passionford. Got stevenr saying he can't give out the reg but there is a s1 page with all the reg on there...

There is loads of sites saying different things with some saying there is one then another pops up and another.

I was confused as you have put the sticky with some reg saying.... Black, but the owner on another site says it was sprayed by ford after it was brought so clearly it's hard to find out. Unless your told.....

2 of us gave the correct known information though so i would have thought it would be enough to maybe give an idea that it maybe correct.Obviously not though and it doesn't matter now anyway.

AAR is a genuine black car.When those photos were taken it was owned by Mr Fuller,ex RS16i registrar for the RSOC.

The other one in the photos at the shows belonged to Di,now before we get the smart fuckers coming in saying it's not her car as the registration is different i'll point out that it was changed when the car was made available to the public to buy.It's thought that this was to hide the identity of the ex owner,how true that is i don't know.

It went from it's original number,C462FHK to C515DYT as can be seen in the photos.Bonkers managed to get it back onto it's original plate when he bought it though.

That is the second car mentioned in post 44 above.
The topic / Brammer also briefly mentions the only grey car plus the red cars - info which is correct. They all left the factory white. The grey was returned before initial purchase, stripped and repainted grey before being rebuilt and collected by the first owner. All the race cars and DEV press car were painted post-production.

I all was thought there was 3 and ya it is right di's one did have the plates changed and the owner of it had them changed back to the di's original ones. There was a big wright up on it in one of the ford mags by the owner of it now. And a bit about all the other mint Rs's he has
