Got these at national day 03 or 04 not the best it pictures i know, the car was track side so i was holding the camera over a fence.

I did a lil digging into this after read either Fastford or Performance ford, about Di's car.
There was 3 reg as black, but only one painted frome bare metal to black and that was the one Di had, and I believe that she didnt buy it but it was on a long term loan form ford, once ford got it back it they changed the reg and removed special radios and other extras. The other black ones were done to special order and repainted the reg as black.
Di's black one is prob the most expencive rs turbo ever, once read that a collector from the US bought anther car owned by Di and paid over $250,000 for it.

In the pic that shows the dutch black S1, that was posted by the topic starter, the licenceplate isn`t correct for original dutch in 1984. Its for late 1989, or 1990 cars.
So is probebly an import car, that was painted black, and registered black in Holland.
Thats what i`m thinking of tho

I bet more pop up in time as it was only the other year they were adamant their was only 1, then 2 then a surprise car that was viewed by the S1 reg so i have no doubt info regarding something else special will come up.
I think one of them was given away in a prize on a scouse radio station

I have a genuine black from the factory S1, one of only two known so far, there could be more!! ,the other known one belongs to Mark( bonkers) who owns the trade centre in wales & that one used to belong to the princess of wales, mine was used by Prince Michael of kent & its believed later used as a decoy car.
My car is B444 AAR, car has been looked over by various RS Owners club registrars & i have a letter on Royal headed paper as to the previous owner, & lots of history.
Im happy to answer sensible questions from anyone genuinely interested . Tony.

My opinion is that as far as im aware there are currently only two cars painted at the factory non white, which is the two known black cars.
Other cars were painted at the dealerships prior to delivery, trhere were red ones for pronotional purposes( datapost/ postoffice) & there was a grey one as well, there was a black one that was at nat day last year which was painted black at the dealers. Its difficult to be certain, but this is what i believe to be true. Tony.

The code should be: 00FRDPL**** when it's 86FRDP it's Import.
It also has a Z-number implying it has bin in a accident. ( Z=ziekenhuis bij schadeauto vroeger)
So the color could have presumably been change afterwards..

At Motor Vehicle Department the car registration is no longer valid..
Will post some more pics when i take some!

we all know about the black series 1s, but i'm sure i read somewhere there was also a genuine graphite grey 1 and a couple of red 1s for ford directors. completely agree that black series 1s look the tits
there was a mass spate of people building reps approx 8-10 yrs ago with about 10 cars all done at the same time in different parts of the country!
couple of red ones, most memorable was Ollies i think?!
i had a XR3 turqoise S1 rep many many years ago, actually looked the bollcks but smoked like a jamaican lol
best S1 rep/colour was prarie yellow on dull white 16" stealths

The red ones were used for Datapost racing and the road going version press car is what you see at the shows

the mag feature on the grey one mentioned that the dealer sorted the repaint before delivery
it left the factory white as you say
and yes, there was a black decoy car, but very little was known about it, exactly for that reason!

Hi Tony, I purchased this actual car from a Ford Closed Auction when they had finished with it. I was a Ford dealer from 1980-1996. The auction site was BCA Measham and I drove it home to Cornwall. Back then it had factory RS 1600i front seats. From memory I sold it it to somebody in North Devon. Do you still have the car?
Regards Richard.
