you are supposed to grease them so that not only do they fit, they sit right and when you fit them you are supposed to let the suspension settle before finally tightening them up
tightening them up on the car without grease and then letting the suspension drop just means they are already under more strain than then were designed to be under as they will have deformed and you won';t be getting the best from them

if i had pictures of the other bushes fitted then i'd post them, but i tend now to buy once and fit and forget, rather than buy several times and then worry that things haven't gone right all the time

you are also beginning to sound like someone who championed floflex and said that every single powerflex bush they'd fitted to their car had been total and utter shite in comparison, which was like saying "i test drove an american supermodel and i think my mums looks better in a bikini"

Dojj - I havn't said a bad word about powerflex, so i don't know where you got that from. All ive done is defend flo-flex as ime i havn't had any issues with them, and i know half a dozen people who would gladly say the same.
I was under the impression that you only used grease etc if needed. Grease doesn't ease any strain and would only aid them to fit if they were a tight squeeze.
Thanks for your advise on fitting polybushes , i always let them settle before finally tightening them up tho, as i do with any suspension component, but havn't had the need for grease when fitting polys.

i quite understand that you've had no problems, which is great news as far as you are concerned because you've heard some stories now that do back up the fact that the cheaper bushes have lots of faults with fitting and wearing and lasting than the more expensive bushes do

obviously if you sell 1,000 bushes and 50 of them fail you will know about it, but powerflex sell millions of the things and other than the aforementioned failure listed in this thread, the only other person who said they had any problems with them was the person who i was hinting at

but i think the message that's coming across overall is that even though you can get better bushes for a higher price, their higher price equates to them being a much better quality of bush as compared to the cheaper end of the market and all the inherent problems you get with the cheaper end products so you should always aim to buy the powerflex ones but if not, there are other makes out there you can try

and i think that sort of sums up the "why buy powerflex? question
