ST170 Gearbox in a MK4 ZVH
Thinking of gearbox choices to go with the zvh im building, ive thought of the 6spd from st170, i know theres a lot of work. ive seen the email feature in fastford this month, but it doesnt say what work needs to be done to the gearbox mounts, id imagine something needs to be done nor does it say what mod needs to be done to the gear linkage?
anyone know where i can get custom driveshafts made ?
cheers for now!Neil

The Getrag box uses a cable shift arrangement instead of the rods that your van will use.
So, you'd need the box, shift cables, gear stick, custom drive shafts and about £600 worth of TTV clutch and flywheel iirc.
Far far easier to go for an MTX75. Still needs custom mounts and shafts (If you search on here you'll find out who/where from) but you'll be able to use a std zetec flywheel and clutches are much easier to come by and a lot cheaper

Cheers boss, I did think about MTX but maybe im just being a bit homo about 6speed.
Suppose its gonna be an MTX then i cant be bothered to piss about with 170 clutch and flywheel for a start.
U wanna point me in the right direction for driveshafts and mounts
Thanks mate, Neil

as above, the getrag is a tough box, but it costs more to fit than the MTX, you could fit an mk1 FRS box, you would need mounts, hydraulic clutch, custom shafts and electronic speedo
or go oldskool and fit the old RS2K rod change box from a mk5 escort, you would need similar mods to the FRS box, but no hydraulic clutch or elctric speedo

i think the ratios are a bit poor for a turbo application due to them being designed for a smaller power banded revvy n/a engine, think there is something like 10mph difference between 4th and 5th?? I may be wrong though, Luca would be best person to ask or simon smail @ sitechracing (sas of her)
MTX is the better option imo, especially without the headache of dual mass
