Default New to forum, few questions about s2 rst

Hello there I'm Chris, I am new to the forum i am normally a vauxhall nova man but i fancied a change so i bought a 90 spec series 2 escort rs turbo. Unfortunatly it was a non runner and upon inspection it has spun big end shells on number 2 and 3 so i am planning a full rebuild. I will add some pics when i can of the car its clean but needs welding in the usual places on the front floor pans and around the seat mounts. Main question is the abs has been disconnected and the belts removed, obviously this is an MOT issue I was wondering if its common to remove the abs?

Cheers.

Not having much luck with finding replacement rods and pistons at the moment, but the engine has been played with before, i dont know if the ecu is chipped, but it has a kent cvh34 cam, vernier pulley, stage 1 hybrid turbo, pace charge cooler and roose boost and water pipes. so not much at the moment, I am hoping once rebuilt with a few more tweaks for 190-200 bhp but we will see. at the moment the plan is to remove the engine from the car to extract the fubar'd crank, ive got another crank at the engine building firm i use being checked. then it should be a case of new mains, big ends, rings, high pressure oil pump arp rod bolts.

Cheers

The ZVH idea has passed my mind but i dont really want to increase the displacement over standard. What needs modifying on the zetec bottom end to take boost?

Possibly something to think about for the future but I will stay 1600 cvh for now. Don't suppose anyone could point me in the right direction of a set of 2nd hand standard pistons and rods in good condition?

Thanks, I know it will be a bit of a stressful time rebuilding it but they are getting collectable now so its worth it, ive got a 2dr mk2 in my shed as well awaiting a restoration, the s2 was to get me back into the ford way of thinking after being a vauxhall nut for a few years.

Welcome to the forum fella. Get some pics up of your build thread at somepoint . Like Luke says the ABS is shit, such a crappy design and brakes either never work atall or they will just lock up lol.

Never had a 'working' problem with the ABS in the 9 years I owned mine.
Had a belt snap and one sensor came out of the locating hole a couple of times but once it was silicon'd in place it never fell out again.

For MOT you should be ok - as long as it's been fully removed and the dash light isn't on.
If you want to put it back on or for future use for anyone else, here's the schematic:

*edit: welcome to RST ownership. Good luck with the repairs as well.

Thanks for the info, I have just found a 1800 zvh local to me, might go and make him an offer. I will put some pics up as soon as I've taken some. At the moment the abs sensors are still there just without the belts on and the bulb has been removed from the dash.
