Just killed my T3!! UPDATE - Not a snapped shaft! Pics!
Was flat out in 5th (24-27psi) at around 6k rpm for a few minutes on and off, heard a funny sort of noise from the engine bay and a puff of black smoke from the exhuast followed by no boost! lol
I could hear the turbine wheel spinning (against the housing) every time I opened the throttle but no boost pressure at all so I'm gussing the shaft has snapped?
Compressor wheel has loads of movement in all directions now too!
Was a Stage 2 T3 (.36/50) and has done about 15K since new over the last 2 years, I ran without a dump valve.
I'm guessing I have just been pushing it too hard (well, running it flat out if I'm honest! lol) and heat has killed it?
UPDATE - Seems the turbine wheel has fallen apart! lol

them gt28r are good. but get the gt25 if you aint going to go over 280bhp that will have hardly and lag and make good power.. if over then get the gt28 so later you can put more power

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
Sorry to hear that karlos.
A turbo for 1000 pounds sounds expensive to me - no longer a semi-budget build
I do think the 60 trim / .48 exhaust would be nearly as good as the GT28R.
(If I had the extra $$$ I would probably go with the GT28R as well.)
However, with the boost levels you run I would have a dumpvalve installed.
I know guys in the UK like the sound of turbo flutter, but that is terribly hard on turbos.
The Bosch type plumb back systems are quiet, and greatly extend turbo life, along with better spool between gear changes.
Just my opinion of course.
Keep up the good work!

It would be a shame to fit a DV but if it really is going to make a difference then I will?!
Never read anything definitive on them, some say fine without them others say they are a must for high boost applications

Yes mate, was a Turbo Techincs Stage 2 as per their website but without cut back blades.
S152 Ford Escort RS Turbo Stage 2
Power output 160-220 BHP
Boost 10-23 PSI
7° cutback T3 turbine assembly
360° screwed thrust bearing
