petrol smell in sump......help

Default petrol smell in sump......help

hi all
just had my series 2 bottom end rebuilt and did an oil and filter change at 20 miles and noticed a smell of fuel in oil when drained but thought nothink but did another oil and filter change at 60 miles and that smelt of fuel and it is definetly petrol smell or is this common at first when doing the first miles , can anyone help me with this please

Get it set up. Might be over fueling which will wear you bores (bore wash) if not carefull!

hi
got it booked in for a tune next week sometime and i definetly no it is overfueling but i did not no if that fuel was able to go into sump and you have put my mind at rest some what so cheers for the quick reply...... tops

Yes it can pass the rings as it's thinner than oil. It is a solvent so breaks down the oil which is where bore wash comes from.
