Default Aem wideband...

after having a bricked lc1 and hearing a lot of bad things about innovate reliability been looking at these.

http://www.efi-parts.co.uk/index.php?productID=204

signal from the guage goes straight to my ecu. looks good to me. anyone use these??

I have not used one of those but they look pretty good. Me and karlos both use these http://trigger-wheels.com/store/contents/en-uk/p64.html and they wire into the ecu aswell.

I though about the tech edge but only has one wideband output. already have an afr gauge in a pod. are you and karlos running gauges? or just direct to ecu? just like the simplicity of this aem one plug it in four wires and off you go.

i have a vems one in my xr2, also shows egt with the additional probe
however it only outputs one analogue signal, so afr for ecu as it runs in closed loop when hot.

im running a gauge and direct to ecu. One wire and its hooked up to the ecu. a live and negative to power it and job done.

Yeah there is literally only 4 wires and yes you can run a gauge and the ECU.

it seemed to me that there was only one output meaning either ecu or gauge. how are you running both, if you don't mind me asking? both off one output or one wide and one narrowband?
thanks lads.

I'm only running my ECU but I see no reason why you cant run your gauge and ECU from the same WB output, it's only a 0-5v signal.

The gauge is connected to the control box and just clips in to the loom, No messing with wires. The ecu is getting its feed from the blue 0.5v wire from the wideband control box.

looks good doesn't it. just wondering about reliability really as I've heard good things about the tech edge but these kill two birds with one stone and as you say only a couple wires to the gauge pod and you're done. plus I can put my innovate gauge on the bay to go towards it.

No. The gauge plugs into a RJ45 socket.

But it doesnt have to, you can just run it off the 0-5v output if that is what the gauge needs.

think i`m gonna give the aem a go looks like a good product, would be good to know if running gauge and ecu off one output works though. been digging about a bit more on it seems to be pretty accurate and not seen many complaints. will let you know how good it is when i get it hooked up to the ms.

thanks for the input guys.

I've got the AEM, after a fair few hours of reading reviews it seems to do the job well (lets hope anyway!),

The RJ45 gives a serial data output which is much more accurate than using a 0-5V signal. The 0-5V needs completely perfect wiring as a slight voltage offset will give an incorrect reading.

Rick.
the ground offsets were a big issue with the lc-1, this aem one only has a ground, 12v and 0-5v to connect up (there is also a serial output), so i presume its self contained. as long as it shares the same earth as the ecu shouldnt have much trouble i`d have thought.

Whats wrong with the innovate afr gauge?
Im interested in you experiences as id like to get an AFR gauge soon...

Also once the MS receives a wideband signal does it adjust the fuelling etc automatically to keep to a set AFR?

IMO nothing - i've worked with loads and never had a problem, but some people have. They can't be beaten for accuracy though.

Yes the MS can run closed loop, but you still need the fuel map to be good.

its spot on when working, I had mine installed and was working fine. changed my laptop had to download lm programmer again when. I booted it up told me my lc 1 was due a firmware update. ran the update. lc-1 died. contacted innovate they just said send it back to the states and pay $45 on top to service it. so I said bollocks and ripped it off. heard a lot of people having them brick on forums etc. shame cuz like I say, it was spot on before it died.
