Default What suspension for S1 ??

My S1 has now covered 81k and the suspension and bushes are feeling rather tired and in need of replacing ! I'm gonna fit poly bushes all round, and gonna change the shocks and springs for aftermarket jobbies, but i don't want her slammed, i'm more concerned with handling than looks. So i don't want to mess the geometry by slamming it !!!!! So what should I fit, suggestions/feedback please people ???? I'm thinking of koni top adjustables, don't want coilovers !!!!

Cheers

Glen

Koni's are the ones to get. I've heard those G-max ones are ok, apparently they are the old Jamex make. BTW Don't go for Proven Product's System 2 kit - cos its sh1t.

As for springs - a 25mm drop on an uprated spring should only improve the handling (with good dampers mind), without being too detremental on geometry and tyre wear etc, or you could opt for replacement OE springs. Any more that 25-30mm drop will make it worse/difficult to handle.

I think I'll go koni's, ave to find out what the drop is with there kit ! If it's to much might just get new standard spring, as I would think mine ave softened by now !!

If you order a normal Koni kit the springs should be 25-30mm drop, which is fine on an RST but make sure you tell whoever that you only want 25-30mm springs anyway.

I have the -25mm Spax spring, Konis and S1 front setup. It's very comfortable for everyday driving, but also suffers from excessive body roll. Has anyone tried a beefier front anti-roll bar?

Glen me old mucca listen to mr kightly if u want to know where ur breads butterd,
Right what you need is a brand new set of series 1 dampers as thay came from fords, then couple these up with leeda 35mm springs this should give u anice ride but with the desired look and feel and keeping the cost well bellow that of the koni option.

you see it aint hard when you know how (apparantly)

I've got Koni's on mine and i think its the best option. If the rides not quite right you can always adjust it.If you want the ultimate go for coilovers.

What about the spax psx adjustable kit? I'm considering them for my s1 at the moment heard good things about them in per ford mag.
I to am going for poly bushes thinking about strut braces aswell?

i will vouch for that DO NOT get the system 2 kit, i have it on my s1 and it is 100% shite if only i had spent another £100 ah well one day maybe she will let me buy konis.
