konis on -60 springs

you'll regret it worst thing i ever did, tyres wheel bearings, cv joints, gear box bearings and seals all suffer big time

thats the lowest u can do with coilovers

dont go lower than 30-35mm m8 as marky g has already said about all the things that suffer, 30-35mm is plenty low enough imo

I had -60's on spax, was far too hard, couldn't get anywhere with speed bumps, but did handle very well, and looked good, but too hard for me!

Sorry to hi-jack this thread, in process of changing mine back to standard, got rears on no probs, fronts though i am struggling lining up the bolt that goes through the hub and strut bracket, got the leg in the hub but i'm about 5mm off with the strut bracket, any hints on how to get it in with less hassle please?

Cheers,

Dumpy

mines on koni adjustables with unknown springs, they're black in colour thats all i can say. Anyway, the back end sits lower than the front end, could that be from where its not been driven on the road? Its only been sat for 3yrs lol, thought it may have settled by now if thats what it needs to do.

25mm or dont bother. When I bought my car it was on -60mm springs, and it was awful. Handling went out the window, would do in the front wheel bearings every 5-6000 miles, tyres would wear out twice as quick on the insides. One of the best things I did was fitting 25mm springs to it.

Low looks the nuts but our roads are that bad,it kills the fun and the fact tyres are changed more often and exhaust hitting alot on speed bumps etc.been there, done it.That was with my wheels just under the arches.handle fine. Now on spax dampers and pi springs.Still sits low but higher at the back.really nice ride.

I havent read any of the thread but thought id give you my 2ps worth.

I use my XR3 on track (Hard abuse thrown all over the place) and on the road day to day, i use Konis with 25mm drop and esc cos wheels with 205/40 tyres. This has been the best setup for the way i drive and the car best handles.

In the past i have had so many different setups from a full 6 link adjustable rear end with rose joints fully tracked up to many settings. Using decent coilovers set at different heights and loads of other trick stuff like adjustable rear roll bar etc etc.

Also had std arms with coilovers, decent ones like billys and budget ones like GAZ again adjusted many different ways.

After all that i have gone back to konis all round with std rear arms.

The front has never changed in rollbar terms, i have always used the S1 rollbar/RS16i with some uprated tie bars, rose joints, TCA's rod ends etc.

Regards
Jano
