Default best place to get a turbo?

got some cash in finally.

turbo technics want £619 exhange for a stage 2 T3.

is there anywhere cheaper? i dont mind paying for quality but that seems strong money for an exchange unit
or am i just being tight.

Joe.

a friend i work with has had a lot of problems with cr turbos and is currently taking them through the small claims court.

I know they have had a lot of magazine coverage recently with positive reports but from what i have sean, i would steer clear.

Oh that's a shame. But remember there are two sides to a story.

From personal experience of using the company on 10+ occasions, I've had no problems just good products, service and prices

my stage 2 was £570 including vat and delivery etc exchange from C.R turbos

The thing that really pissed me off though was that I told them I had a brand new garret -31 actuator so they did not need to supply me an actuator, when It arrived it had a new -31 fitted. When I phoned them up and said have I payed for this actuator the person was like "eerrrr no"

very true. unfortunately first didnt even fit oil lines, and waters didnt line up. they ended up taking his old turbo hybriding that. even though he did pay for a brand new item.
first hybrid turbo turned the seals in the rollers, fitted by him, and drove for around 600miles off boost.

second replcement item went wrong seals again fitted by r-tech who were mapping.
third one seized i think. fitted by r-tech again
cr turbos sent it away to be checked over by 3rd party, blame it on low oil pressure from his engine and wouldnt warrant a rebuild.

a standard turbo was fitted to keep the car mobile, sent to vw for an oil pressure check- came back sweet as a nut and he has covered probably 6-7k since then. its a daily driver so is used everyday.

as i said its not personal expierence but a friend of work, but at the same time i wouldnt be happy with the service he has received.

the car is a golf 1.8t btw.

more than likely a pre built unit mate, easier just to send you a unit with it fitted, then for someone to spend time removing it.

Seems a good turbo to be fair, only running 1 bar atm, can't wait for it to be mapped for around 1.5 bar

You should all speak to smaller companys with less overheads. You will find prices are around 100quid cheaper than i have seen on this post.
