Megasquirt upgrade to MS-II and 3-bar Map HELP
Hi all,
I've just started building my engine and figured i should look ahead to megasquirt fitting etc.
I want to upgrade my current MS1 to MS2, is this as simple as buying an MS2 daughter board and plugging it in? And where is the best place to get the MS2 board?
Secondly, im pretty sure my current ecu has the 2-bar or at best 2.5 bar map sensor from digi-key, what 3bar map sensor can i use? can i use a cosworth 3bar sensor?
Thirdly, my ecu was originally from M-tech automotive, it has the coil pack drivers etcetc, but i read the megasquirt ecus from M-tech were not legit? is this likely to cause me issues when loading new code etc....
Any advice would be great.
Thanks very much!

The ECU's have the MAP sensor built i, so will have to get one that will fit in place of your current one, Cossie ones are external?
If it's an early M-Tech ECU then from what I have heard they are fit for nothing but the bin Rob
In fact I have a dead one sitting right here!
Which was sent out to replace an earlier one that died! lol
The new stuff is said to be much much better though!

Oh cock lol
Apparently you can fit a GM 3-bar map, not on board just wondered if any one had.....
Guess i should buy a megastim too then what failed on your ecu Karlos? I think the one i have is a later one as the case is different, i'll get some pics up.
And also, can a tach output (from the ecu) be bodged up?

It's not actually mine it's a mates, cant remember what happened to the first one but this one doesnt power up.
If you dont mind buying a new one I can get MS2 ECU's with 400kpa (38psi) map sensors and tacho output as standard for a good price?
I get a nice discount as I've bought quite a few now! lol

I will be using an external map with my new ecu it would half read if you used one coil, or work correctly if you used two, with a couple of diodes to stop the signal travelling backwards and setting off the opposite coil, or if your using edis then there is a tach output on it.

Thats right Mark, if you have all the EFI parts fitted, just a case of fitting the plug to the end of the MS loom (inlet manifold, coil pack, CPS, etc..) and get it mapped!
