Default trying to choose a turbo for my 1.6 cvh ......

I have anti-lag atm on p8 cossie managment. I was running a stage 3 T3 but wanted to go for more horses.. I'm trying to choose between a T34.48 (with maram shaft for the anti-lag) or do away with the anti-lag and go for either a GT28 or a GT30.any help or comments will be appriciated as im struggling to make a choice. Aiming for 310bhp-330 bhp

thanks

Id much rather have a decent T34 over a ceramic Turbine.

However T34 with 48 will be hard to get that power would need a .55 or .63

why do you want that much?

for me the power is irelevant (sp) i wanted a fast, responsive engine

wasnt too worried about how many bhp's it has

but i wouldnt worry about als (its just a gimmick, only suited to rally stages imo) and i would go for a roller bearing turbo

but thats me

i agree with gus on the spool up, my t34-48 seems not too bad tho lol, the roller bearing jobbies seem to always need rebuilding tho after 3k, ive heard a few complaining now about early rebuilds

we've battered a gt2871 for 10000 hard miles including mapping and pod action and so far it's been fine and is making good power on the zetec, as to op's question theres not much different between a gt28 and the t34 you mentioned so only thing is how much you want to spend and both will only make around 300 on a 1.6

And will a .48 housing on a t34 make 250-270 brake happily? like gus says im more interested in response than power.... or would a stage 3 t3 be a better weapon?

is the ceramic turbine to cope with the extra heat created by the anti lag?

a t3 could get to 270bhp but only on the best of engines and would be working flat out....

270/280bhp was what i was looking for and i sold the stage 3 t3 and opted for the t34.48 for a bit of reliablity ..... and im going for better manifolds to help spool up times

Ceramic turbines do cope with heat better, but they are generally lighter and thefore aid spool time, i wouldn't have thought they would be very suited to anti lag though,

Maram is an alloy used to cope with anti-lag...

im sure he said its bigger compresser with the cut back blades ect.... but its the one that olie ran with around 300bhp.... and the guy i got it from only ever got his car mapped with it and made 289bhp with a bleed valve and would boost 2bar and drop to like 1.5bar so he said if i had a decent boost controller it would hold like 1.8/9 bar and boost to around 2.1bar lol

i couldn't believe the difference when i first used my ant-lag... makes the car feel so alive so T34 it is.. but - .48 , .55 or .63 ? imo the .63 would proberly be far to laggy so whats the difference between .48 and .55 ? would i see over 300bhp with the .48 or will it need a .55 ? i had a stage 3 T3 and got bored of the power so thats why i want a bigger turbo also once mapped i want to leave it alone for a while. cheers for replies everyone ^^

IIRC Christian recommends a 0.48 for just over 300bhp, D4 RST used a 0.63 and made no power until like 5800rpm or something like that lol

48 will be better, read somewhere that someone had a 63 and changed to a 48 and had better results, think was tony turbo/christian

.48 but if your running anti lag then a mar-m 247 shaft .55 turbo would be nice but will cost alot unless you get it second hand
