Exclamation Things getting a bit warm!

CPS plug...

The heat shields that were fitted from factory, do they cover this as well as the starter?

I've decreased the on boost timing by 1deg and increased the fuelling slightly too, there is no Det and it wasnt lean but things are obviously a little too hot lol

Yeah it struggled to start the other day, stuck the lappy on and had a erratic RPM signal (so no spark), unplugged the CPS observed the plug, back on and it started fine.
Replaced the plug with a brand new one just now.

my pile of crap struggled to start this morning, well went onto 2 cylinders and wouldn't rev, eventually found no pulse to injectors 1 & 4, well that was at 5:45am, couldn't do much more with the neighbours

Just been and had a little look, started on 4 and appears to be running fine again, its getting close to breaking point

At least thats a bonus of running aftermarket management, I can just plug in the lappy and see whats wrong, or at least eliminate a few things right away!

Had this with AJC's red RS1600i but fortunately it never got hot enough to melt completely despite having it's head kicking everywhere.

I put a sleeving on the wire to protect it but that ended up melting. The main plug and harness remained fine though. Never got chance to give it any protection as he sold it on.

Just looking at getting some heat shielding and spoted this...

Then pissed my self at the description....

"Increases horsepower
Reduces turbo lag

Reduces under bonnet temperatures
Simple Installation "

lol

The reason why they claim the extra response is due to increase thermal efficiency by keeping more energy (heat) in the turbine housing. However they usually lead to housing prematurely failing due to heat stress (cracking) as the heat struggles to escape. It does help response to a certain degree but once the turbo is up to temperature it makes no difference as the heat is already there, and anyone who has had a turbo bright red will know how long they take to stop glowing! Extra horse power is bullshit though.

In theory tho lower intake temps increases hp so if u can lower your underbonnet temp thus lowering intake temps????

Probs hardly noticable gains tho

I can't stand the stuff but can't ya heat wrap the downpipe, are you running a zetec bottom end with tubular manifold cos it puts everything offset so closer to the cps

There's a really gd place in lakeside that ceramic coat manifolds and turbo to keep the heat in which helps a lot with the engine bay temp and bhp, but costs a far bit to do

The original AMP connectors can easily take the heat, the cheaper copies tend to melt when used in the CPS location.

It was a plug from somwhere else on my old MFI loom so I guess it was an original? But the one I've just fitted is an AMP branded plug.
