Default Wont idle when warm

I've had my series 1 for a few years but its been laid up in the garage for the past 2 years, it used to run fine when i used it everyday. Over the past couple of weeks i've been trying to get it up and running again.

The trouble is although the car starts and runs fine when its cold, once it has warmed up it struggles to idle then cuts out, i can re-start it but unless i keep the revs up with the gas peddle it will cut out again

I've tried to adjust the idle with the screw on the bottom of the throttle but even if i turn it to idle really high it will run for a few seconds then die down and cut out!

I thought it could be an air leak but then i thought if this was the case then it would be the same when its cold but like i said its fine for the first 15 minutes after i start it.

If anyone has any ideas on what this could be they would be greatly appreciated!

might be a wiring problem m8!

if theres a break down in the wiring somewhere the heat may cause wire to shrink back thus breaking connection and stopping it running.

it might b running lean when cold runs richer as it warms might b to weak mixture
it cuts out or it might need a good blast up the road

Well i've got a spare air flow meter unit, I shall swap these over and see if it still cuts out.

While i'm at it i thought i'd check all the wiring is intact to all the sensors etc

Hope i find it soon

Took the old metering unit off today, should get the other one on in the next couple of days, i'll let you know if it sorts the car out

Let me know if you come up with anything else in the meantime!

Right, my problem ended up being the oil pump

But I now have another

When i press the brake peddle the engine dies on me, if i tap the peddle the idle will drop then come back up but if i hold the brake peddle down the it stalls completely

Any advice is very much appreciated
