Default how hard to find a good shell?

Its looking very very likely that im going to break my s2. Thought about it long and hard now. My thought is though, is it worth me keeping the shell so say in 5-10 years time when the bug bites back I can do another one? Ive always had a soft spot for the series 2 (god knows why ) and Ive had mine 10 years now and would hate to see it go, this particular shell/ID. The situation im in is that I have no space for it nor time. The parts on it are going to waste but also make the car desirable so I cant put it into storage for fear of something happening to it. If I break it and just keep the shell I should be able to find somewhere for it. Question is though, shall I just sell the shell aswell and if I fancy another one look into sourcing one when that time comes, if it ever does.???

i would sell it all mate only because paying to store is somewhere and round my way to rend a garage is like £50 a month so add that up over a few years...

and wouldnt you want to sell complete and let someone enjoy your hard work but be picky who you sell it to..

if not put up a list of whats fitted to the car i bet you get buys for most of it if sold at right prices

cant sell complete as its not finished (just 98% done). A loom in it and it would be fine, everything else is there.

as most people know there are still lots of series 2 shells around that are very solid, so wouldnt think it would be that hard to find another in the future

I haven't managed to sell my shell yet mate though loads of people have enquired but not come and had a look, and it's a really nice one.....if you've got somewhere you could keep it for free i'd keep it as i can't see you getting mega bucks for it!

to be honest i thought good RST shells were gettin pretty scarce now? Most of them are pretty crusty unless your paying good money - not like 10 or so years ago when they were gettin scrapped left right and centre

Whenever I'm lookin for a mk4 for a project, I always look for the base models as they been looked after better. Only thing is they dont have RS on the logbook which I know bothers some folk.

My bonus is the best mk4 shell i've ever seen (apart from concours cars obviously) think its cos its non sunroof and never had a kit to hold water etc

In 10 years time trying to find a decent shell is not going to be easy or cheap if you got somewhere to keep yours and you know its a good shell then keep yours as prices will be through the roof in 5-10 years time!!!

Steve , what you playing at???

Keep it you twat and get it running, for the thousands you have in it its worth more to keep than sell bits off it for pennys.

Put a list of what you'd have for sale and how much its realisticly worth then add up how much it acctually cost you.

Saying that 10 years down the line it may be time to move on??

Big decitions

Aye Rick, know what your saying, getting it going would be the easiest route. Its time and money thats the issue. Hopefully starting to get back on decent money so it could be an option to send it away for caging up and get it back, paint it and get a new engine for it. But then, on the flip side, do I break it for approx 4-5k and put that towards a 6 RS

Ye suppose you have allways wanted an evo6 so for the extra few k then you have a evo that you dont have to worry about the shell rotting/flexing with age.lol

A mate of mine is in the same boat , had his 5 years now and is wanting to put a motor in it then paint for chips on the bonnet etc, but the money soon adds up and hes been looking at scooby typr r's a 7k, he'd have more in the escort.

Whats up with your motor thaught it was an all singing norris motor

It is, just needs a good freshen up, which soon adds up. That and probably new management.
