Default Rebuild

Hi guys going to be getting my engine rebuilt over winter as i dont no whats been done to it. So i am keeping it mfi so please dont comment say convert to efi. Just want to no what parts to start collecting am looking for a good 200 bhp.
What cam? Rods and pistons? Will be gettin stage 2 t3 ported and polished head. Also was wondering about a different inlet as i dont like the cross over pipe and if any one has done it on mfi.

Cheers joe

Go EFI! lol
But in all seriousness if your spending money on a fresh engine why leave it's fate to the unpredictable and unreliable 20+ year old MFI?
If you do stay MFI then for your 200bhp you need your Stage 2 T3, a chip, a FMIC, an AP Racing CP2000-8 Clutch, and a good setup, the rest of the engine is perfectly happy stock

Joe, who's building your engine? Give me a ring and I'll talk you through what you need if you like.

Oh, and I would go efi if you could. It's cheap to do now and so much better.

Nothing wrong with MFi providing you have it set up by a well known tuner on a regular basis.

Id rather stick with MFi and have MSD set it up the start of each show season than spend all the money converting to EFi. Good power can still be had from MFi with the right tuner.

Nothing to do with the right tuner..... the system is old and unreliable thats all, one day your fine next day your lean and have a melted engine lol

in my opinion, get h section rods and standard rst pistons.
won't take much to get to 200bhp.
or you could have a zvh sorted to kick out 250bhp pretty easily for little money, like mine for instance without all the extras i've thrown at it.
but if you are keen on a 1600cvh, then about £600 will see it with h section rods with arp's and honed, re-rung and assembled i'd imagine, strong enough for 300 horses then, just needs port work doing and a bigger turbo (stage2 or 3) and efi to get it right.
efi really makes a big difference though.
my old cab was ok on mfi but my xr2 on efi is so much better and more responsive.

also don't forget a better IC, front mount will make loads of difference and crossover pipe isn't really restrictive, but if doing a front mount IC, then you need it modifying to enter from the otherside of the car, they are not a big issue over the engine in regards to heatsoak or flow.

mahle pistons, on steel rods, lightened an balanced bottom end, ported cammed head, should be reliable enough and give you scope for more at a latter date

Standard rods and pistons will piss 200 horse and there is nothing wrong mfi ask ajc how my old cabriolet performed on mfi!

If your wanting to stay 1.6 get a rebuild on the bottom end, 285t2 cam n vernier, fmic, chipped ecu and a good set up you`ll see that kind of power.
