Default why wont my rs turbo start!!? (fires on wd40 though)

hi all,
as the title suggests my rs turbo will not start!!! it ran perfectly fine other than tapping, so last week i replaced the oil pump, cam and lifters. put it all back together, timed it up fine, connected everything back up and she wont start, while i was at it i discomnnected most things to paint the engine bay but i have put everything back right. there is petrol coming through the filter, good pressure, the tanks full of fuel. i pulled injector 4 out, turned it over and bugger all comes through!! dry as a bone. i know very little about K-jet as im an efi man myself. could someone in the know point me in the right direction please? where is the fuel getting lost? i squirted wd40 through the throttle body and it fired right away. problem is i dont want to piss about with it too much as i need to run my brand new cam in!!! help from someone in the know would be great cheers

180 degree's out would be my first guess.

Friend of mines was doing exactly the same. Where he put the head back on he got the timing a turn out.

wouldnt it hit valves if it was 180 out though? im 100% sure its fine as i marked the flywheel bottom pulley and cam pulley and all marks line up ith before? what can i do to check? head never came off, only cam, lifters, oil pump.

I didnt think it would hit the valve as it would be on its exhaust cycle on 180. I only say this because my friends was only getting fuel to the filter and no further, and sorting the timing cured it. But yeah if you havnt faffed with it i dont see why it would be out.

Right then, we have progress, sort of. I have just started it and run the cam in while a mate moves the metering flap up and down slightly. It runs but he has control with the flap and as soon as he let's go it stops. It will not even think of starting otherwise.or running even.what do you think it could be? I can't find any air leaks?engine sounds perfect now when running which is good.I fkn hate mfi because it's shit and I know nothing about it... Help guys.cheers

Eh? If he has no fuel it has nothing to do with the timing! lol

No mate you dont.
You have an air leak, thats why the flap is not being sucked down, check all your hoses, etc..

No Tommy you dont, it's no different to having a hole, just with a mesh over it to stop shite getting through.

PRoblem solved boys! She's now running sweet with new cam and oil pump.idles revs and runs quiet and smooth. Was beginning to doubt myself very much until I found the hair line crack in the bottom breather pipe going into the metering head. All ok now thanks for all your inputs

really?! because when my mates wasn't getting any fuel someone suggested the timing was well out causing the fuel to not be delivered. and literally all we did was remove the belt, turn over 180 belt back on and it started/ran?!?! I assumed it was something to do with the way the mfi worked

must have been just a coinkidink.

Yeah wierd! lol
So long as the engine is turning over and pulling vacuum fuel will be delivered, assuming fuel system works of course!
